Long-distance move from Ohio to Florida

Complete Neglect!

The absolute worst and NEGLECTFUL service experience we’ve ever had…and we’ve moved 5 times in the last 10 years- both locally and cross country. Stay FAR AWAY! We were lied to and taken advantage of from the start. I write this review in hopes of preventing others from going through the torture our family just endured.

The company never showed up at all on the day scheduled and confirmed multiple times for our move. Paul Wingus, the salesperson, blamed logistics and logistics was completely absent. A nightmare that went from bad to way worse as time progressed.

After doing a walk through to inventory our items the next full day after scheduled arrival, the foreman for MM told us he estimated “at least” $6,000 more than the “worst case scenario" estimate we had been given with extra costs built in for supplies and "more room on the truck than needed." --The foreman listed items such as “headboard, twin mattresses, and patio sofa” as items not listed on the original estimate. ALL of these things were clear as day in the photos as well as on the inventory we provided. Upon further investigation, we learned that an additional 50 boxes and 48 individual items that we submitted on our original inventory were not included on the “worst case scenario“ from MM.

When a 3rd party delivery company finally arrived at our new home a week later, we were APPALLED at the condition of our goods on the truck!! Items labeled “glass/fragile” with arrows pointing up had been shoved in the middle of heavy items on their sides. And this was just the start of the tragedy. The boxes coming off the truck looked like they had intentionally been broken or damaged. There were actual holes in some of them and they were CRUSHED. There was no shelving added into the truck like there should have been and there had been zero regard for the location of items labeled fragile. Our mattress from our king sized bed which left our home in a plastic cover had been folded in HALF before leaving the state —- as it turns out just so the moving company could squeeze another smaller sized move into the same truck as ours at the same time to be delivered on the way down. The mattress is torn. There is a list of items that got damaged in transit, and we understand these things sometimes happen on a big move- as I mentioned, we have moved a lot…but this was unreasonable damage and the absolute icing in the cake was seeing our new 75” TV boxed in a $30 moving box with padded corners come off the truck crushed. Not only did the box get shoved in the truck carelessly, it got jammed in between other items that were so heavy that the actual TV frame was dented and the screen shattered!! The complete and utter NEGLECT by Midwestern Movers with regard to the handling of our goods and treatment of their customers is sickening. And they don’t care. We were only a money maker for them. Paul suggested I find a way to submit a claim through my own insurance agency for the TV when I told him what had happened (at 9pm - after only 2 people from the entire crew were left to unpack and reassemble our tables and beds and my husband had been on his hands and knees for 4 hours trying to do their job for them so my kids had actual beds to sleep in that night).

This review does not do the job performance justice. The entire experience was so much worse than I am able to express. We are a family of 5 (3 kids) with 2 dogs in tow and the lack of communication itself while trying to plan temporary housing not knowing if and when our belongings were even going to be on the road was upsetting, but the overall experience and end result was so much worse. When I go back and reread all the correspondence where Paul told me it was his company’s job to make this move as stress free as possible and that Midwestern Movers would not disappoint, I don’t know whether to cry or vomit. Never have I ever experienced such terrible customer service in my life. If I could give the company 0 stars for a rating I would, as that is what they have earned fair and square, without question
